| What's the point of Early Access? |
|---|
I released my first game, Withering Rooms, as a fully playable Early Access game. During the course of Early Access, I was able to see what parts of the game were working and what weren't, what elements of the story needed expanding, and where people's time was most spent. I used all the telemetry, feedback, and bug reports to make the game drastically better than it ever could have been without Early Access. I plan to do the same with Withering Realms, although because it is already much more feature-rich and longer than Withering Rooms was when it entered Early Access, I expect the Early Access period to be shorter. |
| How often will new builds be released during Early Access? |
Generally, I'll aim to update with bug fixes and balance and performance improvements roughly weekly, with hotfixes for critical bugs coming sooner. Bigger changes, such as new content, will be rolled up into a larger release with a Steam event announcement so nobody misses out. If you're feeling adventurous, you can find details on how to try the next version early in the #next-version channel on Discord. |
| What can I expect in upcoming patches? |
The initial focus will be on addressing bugs, balance issues, and performance issues reported by the first wave of Early Access players. Beyond that, here are some already known areas that will receive improvements:
|
| Is a demo planned? |
Yes, an Early Access demo will be released. It would be tricky to continually update a demo since it requires special content packaging, so this will happen after the initial round of Early Access feedback and improvements are incorporated. |
| When will Early Access end? |
When support for additional languages and console porting is done in 2027. Expect an announcement well ahead of time. |
